Medium SUVs are often thought of as little more than high-riding station wagons... but not this pair.

A very "Sat On The Fence" review. Your heart says Freelander and your head says Jeep. C'mon have an opinion and share it seeing as you went to all this trouble to create this great video.

The white Freelander 2 SE is my car! It's manual, though. I absolutely LOVE it!!!! I'm insulted it was compared with a Chrysler. That is OBVIOUSLY why it is A$7000 more expensive new.

I have been used to driving manual cars all my life (from mid 80s - to present day).. I remember one automatic I owned many moons ago but I cannot remember what I thought of it or how I got on.. I recently just tried a FR2 SD4 Sport LE.. I actually just felt like an accessory in their.. After putting it in drive it seemed to drive itself.. Driving it felt like being sat on a cloud on a chassis of marsh mellow it was that comfortable.. I think leather seats are that bit more supportive than cloth.. Sorry veggies no offence meant... I don't mean to infer the vehicle isn't sturdy, just comfortable.. Most of the left hand side of me had bugger all to do.. What I do find odd and slightly annoying is the GS models (from what I can gather) have driver/passenger arm rests, even on the manuals.. Yet the auto I drove didn't have any arm rests.. A bad habit can easily be created resting your left hand on the gearstick.. Then you realise and either rest it on the passenger seat or the handbrake.. Probably just as bad an idea? I wondered if the autos that didn't have armrests could have then fitted? Yes maybe a trivial and gripe point but on a long drive cockpit harmony is priceless.. I am also still having right leg ankle ache.. Teething troubles only I hope? PS What on earth have L R done to the Rangy and Disco lately? The FR2 seems to have benefited from their lack of classical L R appearance.. PPS I recently saw a 2011 FR2 SD4 Sport LE with 49k on for just under 14k.. Then saw a 2014 FR2 GS with 48k for 14k. They looked almost identical on the outside.. The seats were both leather but the GS lacked the cream stripe through the middle the Sport had.. Both had running boards and a rear spoiler. (which I personally favour) Both lacked a tow bar and roof rack.. (two more pluses for me.)

That Jeep is just so ugly. Jeeps weren't supposed to look like that. If it was more square like the Rover it may be more appealing. The jeep is the better deal but I wouldn't want to be seen in one. I gotta stay with the Rover

I love the looks of the Cherokee Trailhawk.  Much better looking then the Rover.  Why would anyone think a box with wheels looks good?

Matter of fact every car company got an ugly car or even many ugly cars but that jeep is very capable car, and cheaper than the Rover, and it's not an excuse to say the Cherokee is worse than the FreeLander just because of the shape !! Go and take a look at Grand Cherokee 2015 or 2016 models, Its absolutely an amazing car.

land rover is NIGHTMARE to service and maintain.... I would stay at least 100 yards away from the freelander. Take it from a person who has one.
