I already commented but have to add. One thing I love about you, Ellen, as a teacher is that you encourage trying everything. I sometimes think I ought to focus on one style in order to perfect that style but I'm drawn to lots of styles. You showing an abstract one day and this still life the very next day makes me think I'm okay just going at learning to paint in my own crazy eclectic way! Thanks.

Hi friend...enjoyed this on as a study. I'm not fond of stills but they help me when I watch you. Love you and your art. You take so much time for all of us. Caroline in NC

It's funny cause I don't ever think of still life as a fun subject and yet you have made it seem modern fun and beautiful. Maybe the way you left white, the choice of colours - especially the pop of blue as shadow, really nice. At school we were always made to sketch bowls of fruit and it didn't seem at all fun 😂.

Also can I say Fabriano I absolutely love! I have got some of that most amazing results on that.

Love this style ❤ I use acrylic pens different colors to outline objects. Watercolour and gouache is great for filling in colour! This is definitely a freeing whimsical style. ❤ this video! Thanks for inspiration, Ellen :) Always appreciate your great instruction 😊

I really enjoyed watching you create this still life, mixing the colors and dealing with the light. Plus I learned several things, so thank you very much!!

I have been thinking that I'd like to try still life. Now I will. This seems really doable but also painterly. Thanks Ellen!

This was fun to do. That was probably the quickest I've ever sketched or painted anything. I do need to do these things to loosen up a bit. Thank you 😀

This is just so beautiful! Love watching you paint and wow...leaving that white space and adding the different layers of paint really lifts up the entire painting. Gorgeous Ellen!

Love this! Thank you! Would you consider doing a gouache still life tutorial in the future? You have inspired me to learn gouache in 2023
