After seeing Monsters by Gareth Edwards I was so excited to see what he did with a Godzilla Movie. And damn did he do it well. He created a very grounded believable story, backed up with his amazing direction in cinematography. Every shot is from a perspective you could find yourself in, from a street, from a flat window even an office block. There were no 'impossible shots' as in sweeping drone like views of events unfolding. It just made the whole movie so more palpable. Albeit with a slightly too dark color grading, regardless, it's a fantastic movie with some gorgeous VFX work.

Such an AWESOME film. I am still reeling from how much they made Godzilla look like he's actually there, and the sound design for everything is even better! Once again, WONDERFUL work bringing the analysis back!

I remember watching the trailer and freaking out when I heard Godzilla's roar. I also remember loving the opening that shows this movie's interpretation of the OG Godzilla getting killed by an oxygen destroyer bomb. Though I was disappointed by how little Godzilla actually appears in his own movie.

One thing I liked about this Godzilla is how the monsters scale. Godzilla felt enormous and even the flying muto, the smallest monster Godzilla fought felt unbelievably large especially during the halo jump scene where it flies off in the background before the dude lands. Really wished they kept this feel especially for Ghidorah and Kong.

Hopefully you can do King of Monsters analysis in the future. I wondered why all of your videos went missing back in the days.
