Excessively long drugstore receipts are an issue near and dear to Jimmy's heart, and finally someone is doing something about it. Assemblyman Phil Ting of San Francisco has introduced 'Assembly Bill 161' that would require businesses to provide electronic receipts, unless you specifically ask for a paper one. Unfortunately, everyone isn't in support of this change.

Idk why people would be against having a digital copy of your receipt. It’ll save your ass when it comes to warranty or returns. And don’t like giving your email out? Make an email specifically for receipts only

No joke: I've gotten receipts over four feet long at Longs for only one item purchased...I thought that was just a thing here in Hawaii. It's crazy.

The paper receipts are better for the environment than the use of thousands of servers to hold all these digital receipts. The servers use a lot of electricity, much more than the process to have a paper receipt. Also, paper is biodegradable and compostable. This bill is idiotic.
