iPhone Photos Slideshow Walkthrough (iOS 18)

In my last video, I showed how to create a photo slideshow on iPhone under iOS 18. And based on a couple of comments I got on that video, I've decided to come back with this video where I'll show you a more detailed walkthrough of how to create a slideshow on your iPhone.

I have learned from @shinkb77 that the Photos app on iOS 18 doesn't allow you to create slideshows without music. I got on the phone with Apple Support to confirm this behavior, which they did. They advised me to submit a feature request if that was something I wanted. So, I did.


In speaking with Apple, I learned a few specific things about iOS slideshows that I think you might want to know, such as the screen resolution of slideshows you create, which is 1080p. I'll be submitting a feature request for higher resolution output options, too.

So, another iOS slideshow video coming your way soon with what I've learned from these comments and from Apple. Next time, it'll be more of a walkthrough.

I dont like the fact that you cant control the speed or transition speed any more. Plus i dont like that itll put more than one pic at a time when playing. This feature seems almost completely broken.

How do you adjust the speed of the slideshow? I used to be able to navigate to the area and just adjust the speed. Now, I can’t.

I want the Slideshow to show the Entire Photo, not a Zoomed in or skewed or cut off Photo. How do I do this?

Thank you for trying to make the changes more palatable for us, but I hate that they removed simple customization features, like adjusting speed of the slideshow, showing pictures “as is” without weird close up on some pictures and “no music” option. And yes I did submit my feedback, did not change a think lol

Thanks Ivan, but my biggest gripe with the slideshows and movies on ios18, is that on my ipad, I can’t control the amount of time spent for each pic and vid. It is defaulted too fast. Pics go by quickly and vids are cut short. On ios17 there are “turtle to hare” speed controls on slideshows. I know your vids are using the ios18 photos app on your phone, but many of us show slideshows on our ipads. Thanks for any help!

Before this terrible update I would use an albums slide show feature to make music playlists
I could listen to sleep music and not have to deal with YouTube’s or Spotifys ads
This is massive let down, the old photos app was fine just needed mild tweaking
Not a over haul that ruins everything

Slideshow is pretty useless now. Sorting is difficult and time-consuming, you can't change transitions or speed. It's just running quick cuts with a slight Ken Burns effect and it's too fast. It keeps glitching and the music drops in and out.
The Edit Timelines doesn't move an image, it copies it and then I have to go back and delete the original. It's a pain. It's all pretty terrible. What gives or what am I missing?

Why can you no longer add music from your own library when make a slideshow.? In 17.7 you could do it but in 18.0 and 18.1 you can no longer do that. You can only add the music they give you.

I HATE the fact that we can’t play a slideshow without music. My daughter loves watching the videos of our family, but she doesn’t want to listen to some crappy Muzak. She wants to listen to our voices and hear what was happening. I’m absolutely infuriated with this change.

The new feature is quite disappointing, it simply made ios17 version of movie maker into slideshow for 18version and the slideshow with its good features got disappeared altogether. I am glad I haven’t updated yet but I’m sad too because I want to save my slideshows in 17version but it has no such option. Ivan can you please advise me how to save ios17 slideshows. Hi there. Is there a way to take a SINGLE still photo iphone/ipad & make it a still 30 second video? I wanted to do this so it could upload to instagram as a 30 second video reel to add 30 seconds of music chosen from instagram music selections.
