Bret "Epic" Mazur, who co-founded Crazy Town with Shifty Shellshock, shared that he had a positive conversation with his late bandmate just months before his passing. Speaking to TMZ, Epic revealed that Shifty seemed enthusiastic about creating new music during their last phone call. According to Epic, there were no signs that Shifty was struggling or going through any unusual difficulties.

While authorities are investigating Shifty's sudden death on Monday as a possible overdose, Epic emphasized that their recent conversations gave no indication of such issues in Shifty's personal life. Epic expressed shock and devastation over the unexpected loss of his longtime friend and bandmate.

Epic and Shifty founded Crazy Town in 1995 and, despite Epic's departure from the group a decade ago, they maintained occasional contact, often discussing music ideas. Epic fondly remembered Shifty's creative flair, recounting some of his more unconventional ideas for promoting the band, such as staging a police pursuit in Los Angeles to promote their debut album. This, according to Epic, exemplified Shifty's embodiment of the group's adventurous spirit.

Reflecting on their time together in the studio, Epic spoke warmly of their collaboration and shared memories. Shifty Shellshock, who passed away at the age of 49, leaves behind a legacy that Epic remembers fondly.
