'It's sad, dangerous and scary'

Huw Edwards has escaped prison after being convicted of 'making' indecent images of children. Emma-Jane Taylor warns of the threat posted by social media and the dark web.

The sad thing is that AI tools are increasingly making it very easy for nefarious individuals to render realistic video of people in situations they were never in. Hence, if someone gets a photo of you, they can substitute your face into a pornographic scene or into some other scenario that tarnishes ones reputation. So on top of the of the already problematic issue of people getting embarrassing, exploitive, and harmful real imagery and video of them being circulating on the web, now you have fabricated video that is hard to falsify.
