Hello, very useful tip. Are there a workaround if I want to show/hide conditional columns? I'm hitting my head with the wall thinking how can I get this: I want to show/hide columns depending of the user, for example, user 1 can view all columns and user 2 only can view 2. Even with Power Automate I have no solution for this. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

hi mr maven, i want to do it with the multiple condition, how could i do that. for example, i have multiple choice column and based one those choices i want to show or hide another column. now the issue is i could check condition with one value, but not with 2-3 values.

Is there a way to hide a full row? Lets say you have a status column. If "complete", hide row. I don't want to delete row as I want to keep historical data.

Can this conditional formatting also work for highlighting the header for columns based on a drop down so the matadata can hide/show relevant items and so that the actual list can also highlight headers accordingly in addition to make it clearer for the user?

Hello Greg, thanks for sharing this video, i have question please, when i hide a field based on conditional formula, the value of the field its not setting to null automatically, so in the library view i can see the value of the field despite that it's hidden in view/edit form when i open item !
is there a way to set null value of field when its hide based on conditional formula ?

I have a requirement where I am supposed to show a Column based on the character limit of another column. I have tried l/Len(columnName) to get the length but this doesn't seem to work. Can you suggest any ideas?

Thanks for this How to.. I found this real easy for me (a SharePoint novice) to follow.

I was wondering if there is a trick to getting a second level Column to show or hide..

IE: Say I have 2 choice columns and a text entry Column.

I have a choice column titled 'Category' in that as an option is 'Product Delevlopment' then I have another Column titled 'Product Items' and as an option in that is 'Other'
Then I have a text entry column call 'Other Product Items'

I have Hidden the Column titled 'Product Items' to only show if the 'Product Development' option is chosen. -- This works. (thanks to the video above)
What I am trying to do is also have the Text entry Column hidden too until the option 'Other' from the 'Product Items' Column is chosen.

Does this make sense?
This I cant seem to get to work.

For now I have resorted to having both columns 'Product Items' and 'Other Product Items' show up when 'Product Development' is chosen.

If there is a quick fix for this or you might know what direction to look that would be fantastic.

Hi Mr. Maven Thanks for the tip, I will try it out with our libraries as we often have many columns which are only important to fill in the meta data but not to be seen later on.
I have another question. If you have a huge library and tried to set it up without subfolders and later sync it to the explorer you loose all information about which documents belong together. I tried to search for a way to display the meta data in columns in the explorer but it looks that only certain fixed attributes can be display. Therefore it does not help to display the path as all documents are stored in the same folder (as I wanted to get rid of the folders in the first case in SharePoint).
Do you have any idea how to add information to these 1000 documents which lie now on my drive and cannot be searched properly.

I have watched some of your videos and have learned a few tricks from it :) Maybe you can help to advise, I am trying to hide/unhide a field depending on who is currently logged in as the user... for example i have a Person field called Reviewer and i want to make another field visible only if the current logged in user is the same as the Reviewer...

I have tried =if([$Reviewer] == @me, 'true', 'false')

But it didnt work. Any suggestions that may help?

Is it possible to write a conditional formula that shows/hides the field based on another column's value in another sharepoint list ? If so, could u explain the syntax with an example ? I tried using the lookup conditional formula detailed in microsoft's documentation but wasn't able to make it work either due to misunderstanding of the syntax or the functionalities of that formula. Any help is appreciated!
