Jasper wildfire: Rain, cooler weather limiting spread of flames in national park

The recent rainfall and cooler weather in Jasper National Park have helped to limit the spread of wildfires, providing a boost to firefighting efforts.

The park authorities are optimistic that the fire behaviour will calm over the next 72 hours due to the rainfall.

While more rain is expected Friday, temperatures are supposed to return to the mid-20s by Saturday, which the park says will lead to an increase in fire activity.

Global's Jasmine King reports.

Dear Canadians,
I saw and heard about a wildfire in Jasper park.
Your country is very very beautiful.
There are wonderful national parks, lakes and amazing places in Canada.
Canada is a treasure on the wordl.
I wish you to succeed in controlling the forest fires.
It is a tragedy to lose your own houses.
I feel for you, I know how it feels to lose a house.
I wish you the best in Canada.
The love must to win

Greetings from Europe
Eva

Nine most dangerous words ever strung together

That reporter talks too fast and with such a flat tone. Can’t Global hire better reporters?

Results of helping promote the climate crisis with carbon taxes (that do nothing but make us poor) to promote the foreign war machine instead of funding forestry management.

Amazing. They dew the place, then geoengineer the rain.
Good job

I am not a resident of the wildfire area but I would like to know, in 2024 that you can buy a drone with an HD camera at Costco for $50, how difficult it is to run auto pilot drones with heat or smoke sensor in the area on hourly or daily basis to detect fire right in the spot and once it is detected an operator can page a water tank helicopter to the area after investigation. I'm so mad to see these fires everywhere every year very frequently. Why can't we stop or deal with it in 2024 already?

Man where are all our resources to help with these fires. This is just one more example of what a failure this federal government is to Canada, its land and its native citizens

Thanks Global ! Anyone notice that most CBC videos have the comments turned off ? I immediately stop watching them . Must be to protect the “absolutely climate change crowd “! Everyone is responsible. Poor forest /pine beatle management, emergency preparedness, careless citizens with matches and cigarettes . Sad days for Canadians .

Pine beetle, forest management is the cause. Back in 2017 the Conservatives put a motion for better Forest Management plan but the Liberals did nothing. They knew long ago that this would happen. Katherine McKenna was the minister back then.
