I have to say one thing. If you heard someone from the Middle East pronounce gyro, make sure you ask them directly instead of overhearing it. I asked a middle eastern friend that I know (who owns a Greek restaurant) how it was pronounced. He said "Gee-roh" (gee like "gears"), even though he was just saying the super American gyro earlier. I asked why he did that? He said, "Because it's easier." LOL
So make sure you ask specifically!
