Today's Guild D-55 remains true to all the premium appointments of its 1968 predecessor, including a AAA Sitka spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and nitrocellulose finish. Internal refinements include scalloped Adirondack bracing as well as an improved dovetail neck-joint, hand fit to make this generation of D-55 the lightest, loudest, and best-sounding yet.

I bought my 1976 D55 secondhand in 1981 and it's still with me.

This is a stunning dread, both in looks (total killer) and tone. The D-55 deserves to be included with the top of the line Martins and Collings dread guitars. Wish it came with a 1 3/4" nut option.

Sounds killer, but I'd love to hear it in standard tuning.

Hey @Guild Guitars, there's a big phase problem between the left an the right audio signals of this video... It's really a pity for a video about your flagship dreadnought model. I love this guitar by the way; my comment is juste written because this model deserves a perfect sound ;) At least you should invert the polarity of the left or the right signal. Peace

Can you make a new demo for this in standard? This one sounds a bit odd

That's what a real guitar sounds like. I had one that I bought new back in 78. Wish I still had it but like everyone else you keep selling stuff to get new stuff. Don't sell your stuff. Not sure if I could afford a new one definitely thinking about it.

I would like to hear these Dreadnaughts demonstrated with a for real Bluegrass player using a flatpack with minimal strumming and rhythm work, just a good Fiddle Tune or a Blues Breakdown hard driven with a good stiff flat pick, something like Larry Sparks' version of Fireball Mail. This picking you all use to demonstrate these lovely instruments is OK, but does not do the instruments justice, it is nice and pretty, but lacking. in the power that I am sure these instruments can produce. MY OLD OLD D25 Guild with it's spruce top and molded arched Mahogany. back is nearly as powerful as my Pre WWII D 18, sometimes I think it is better than that old '36 Martin. It would be nice to hear one of the "NEW" Guilds really driven hard by a Bluegrass Flatpicker, The Style of Clarence White or even one of Larry Sparks' rare solo pieces would serve as good platforms to demonstrate what these instruments can do. I am a real believer of the New Guilds made in Southern CA, these instruments can really deliver, one needs to actually pick one up and play it to realize how good and powerful they are, I was really impressed when I actually got to play one, it seemed to have the best qualities of the better J45 Gibsons and the D18 Martins with none of their shortcomings, that is a real accomplishment in Guitar Lutherie, when these instruments get some time in picking on them they should. prove to be among the best instruments available for any kind of style, barring none of the best from Martin and Gibson. Congratulations on your production of these wonderful instruments, keep up the good work!
