The simplistic nature of the show's design allows the characters to be more expressive. It's a big part of what makes me love the series. :)

This short animation show how dedicated the animators at DHX did. First AJ look at the tree to confirm her bucking target. She then grinned and lowered her front part of her body while she prepare to buck. When she focused her energy toward her leg she closed her eyes. It was then finished with her satisfied look at the end.

Really, if the animators are lazy they will simply doing simple bucking movement without expressions.

Well, Top Draw also is responsible for the animation. In fact, Top Draw supposedly does the majority of the animation but it's finalized back in DHX Media (voice synching, more detail, etc.)
