One should also be ready to start practicing mathematics, probability and statistics to become good in Machine Learning. One should not just go for ML just because it sounds interesting. it requires good understanding of statistics to become good in ML. That's not the case with Blockchain though. Blockchain requires good progamming and understanding of cloud and Distributed Computing.

You should consider doing a Blockchain tutorial in Java, so that people can better understand the theoretical concepts behind it (the data structures, consensus, distributed storage, networking, etc.).

You should learn both. But unfortunately (or fortunately) it will take (a lot of) time. Mathematics is a must to master ML algorithms and you should have intermediate-advanced knowledge of python, and also be able to use MATLAB and OCTAVE. Deep learning is a very interesting and niche area of expertise.

Blockchain requires (a shi*load of) coding. You need to have a good knowledge of web dev(Javascript and its libraries, or even python and django-basically both front-end and back-end), and languages like Solidity to be able to code smart-contracts.

They are both emerging technologies, and whether you're looking for a high paying job, or are interested in doing research in these areas, I would suggest you learn both. Just give them enough time, and don't rush through it.

Don't miss guide others, these technology's are very big, to learn these we need lot of skills, you can't learn just like that, how can we learn all these technology's, it will take 2-3 years to learn itself, go with one technology which suitable to you and master it then only you can survive in market
