Roland TR-06 & TR-6S Rhythm Machines Demo

Roland's TR-606 Drumatix used to be one of the hidden gems of Roland's TR line of drum machines. Today, Roland is re-introducing the 606 through two new offerings: the TR-06 Drumatix, a modernized digital update to the original analog machine, and the TR-6S Rhythm Performer, which takes inspiration from the 606 and places its sounds (and many others) in a six-track sequencer. Watch as Fess Grandiose takes a closer look into both of these releases.

I totally like the TR-06 has different flavors to produce different effects and it does sound like an 808 at time. Pretty neat to see this!! Next up do a Roland TR-707 boutique next up Roland TR-07!!! Long live the 80's and Italo Disco!!!

I did all my demos on this little beauty in 1982. Welcome to 2020 :-)

I love when I find reviewers of this high level.

Roland should do a Boutique Roland TR-S, a drum machine sampler with the TR-08 (brain) work flow and add a microSD card slot to upload samples. Adding a render feature for exporting loops and stems would be awesome too.

I appreciate the TR-6's discrete trigger outs. Triggering a jupiter-8's arp with the tr-606 has always been special combo for live jams.
The sound is...hmmm. Here it seems more like 808-samples than it does the uniquely aggro TR-606. It should sound like _cold steel_ under tensile stress. Tr-606 hats and snare are special, although here they sound rather typically digital.
And _still_ no track/song mode on these Aira drummy-things?? There's room for three more buttons to the right, and memory is peanuts these days.

Seems cool. Holding out for that (hopefully) TR-07. I already have the 08 and a lot of these sounds are similar. If I didn't have that already though I'd get this. An 07 would be cool to add to the mix though! Make it happen, Roland!!

Can you change samples per step? So one channel can have on every step a different sample?

The TR-6S looks perfect next to my MC-101.

Stereo effects out of mono output? Huh? Also is there separate out of usb? And if yes how's that work if u don't select it as main soundcard?

Great video. Is there a difference between the TR-06 vs the TR-6S for the ACB virtual analog 606 sounds? Eg if I buy the 6S will it make the same 606 sounds as the 06?

Roland’s digital sounds are superlative.

Does it send individual instruments (BD, SD, Etc) over usb? Thanks!

You could surely mod this thing to have a 12v in. If you strongly want to gig with this stuff.

i dont see why people would go for the tr-06 instead of the behringer clone. like If you want a 606 your not going for a perfect clean drum machine, your going for the character, so why not go for the analog option? and with the extra sounds for each drum, if you can just use different samples so it sounds like an 808, whats the point of calling it a 606? Yeah the randomiser and velocity is cool but if your going for that effect then youd go with something like the digitakt or the drumbrute. Nobody wants a machine that looks like a 606 but sounds and acts nothing like it, if your the kind of person who wants a 606, you either have a way of getting those drum sounds with those features and in addition want a gritty lofi analog characterful drum machine, or you dont like the sound of the 808 and 909 and prefer the lofi 606. so at that point why not go for the behringer, its got the individual outputs, its cheaper and its analog. Roland just doesnt listen to the consumers anymore. People dont want VSTs in a box, we want analog. At least with the 6S they are trying something "new", but nobody ever looked at the 606 and said "yeah this is cool but i wish it was digital". The only people who would by this are the boomers who are "too good for behringer cause roland are the best"
