Yup. Jordan delves into the electric universe. I'm out of excuses. Time to take it on.

My Twitter: @MartymerM81

"Why Do People Laugh at Spirit 'Science'?" is a series in which I debunk and make fun of the claims of defacto new age cult leader Jordan Duchnycz/Pearce/David/River/whatever he calls himself this week, and his "Spirit Science," which is about as far from science as it gets. Featuring psychic powers, male and female energy which apparently relates to thermodynamics, spinning physical wheels inside our bodies and Jews from space, this is some serious stupid that sadly, millions of people seem to take seriously.

Sorry this took so long. I was going to have this done by mid-November, but as I was about 80% done with the script, my kids got sick, and took turns being sick up until the holiday season. If I had any time to myself, I was too exhausted to work on videos. Fortunately, the kids are fine now, so it's time to get back to business and make a lot more videos. Some quickies, some with more production value... But yes, you'll see more videos from me now. Hopefully quite a lot more.

Roses are red,
Jordan speaks woo,
Your heart is purely electric and
It's clearly toroidal too!

"Wait till you hear the stupid part." When you said that, I thought I'd already heard 15 minutes of stupid part. But that turned out to be just a prelude.

Wallace Thornhill was awarded the 2010 "gold metal" by the psuedo-science academy: Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science With this:

Quote: "He has devoted much of his life to the study of plasma and
electricity in astronomy. Having posed the key question raised by
the theory of recent planetary catastrophe – what is the true nature
of gravity? - led to the formulation of the idea of the “Electric
Universe”, for which this award is made." End Quote.
Wallace read "Worlds in Collision" well before finishing high school. Wallace has a BSc(electronics) gained here at Melbourne University (1960-62) which means he did not go farther than first year physics electricity and magnetism. With electronics degree in hand he got employment with IBM, while with IBM he had contact with various Departments of ANU. He left IBM and gained employment with the Australian government in Canberra (Department of Foreign Affairs). How can you go wrong with such training?
Wallace Thornhill and David Talbott met each other and Immanuel Velikovsky in Canada in 1974. This inspired them to come up with 'electric universe' A mix of thoughts by Velikovsky (colliding worlds), Thornhill (electricity) and Talbott (mythology).

Jordan: "Gravity doesn't exist because electromagnetism nonsense words."
Also Jordan in this video: "Mars and Venus _gravitated_ too close to one another..."

I lost it at the "Grand Canyon was carved by lightning from Mars" bit. That's a whole new level right there.

Martymer is like the classic movie released a decade ago of YouTube channels. I’ve been watching this dude for six years and he’s still going. He’s like the Nostalgia Critic’s more mature brother with somehow more staying power.

Jordan discovers 'electric universe theory', and now the Martians aren't hyper-masculine baddies any more, but refugees fleeing astral lightning... Plog twist...

"The universe has no obligation to make sense to monkies like us" - very well said!

This channel is _highly_ underrated! It gets my seal of approval! Martymer, you do an _excellent_ job at explaining why pseudoscience _doesn't_ work! I love the mathematics you put up too! It's consistent with reality, and it especially helps if you understand it! I _love_ science, and it _is_ hard, however that is what makes it challenging, and worth the effort to learn! It pays off, and it works! Jordan is absolutely maddening! Thank you, Martymer! 👍

I feel like there needs to be a grumpy cat meme responding to Jordan:
"So do you prefer Sitchin's theory of the Electric Universe theory?"
"No."

Well I’m converted, Jordan puts forward a great argument. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I laughed out loud at his explanation for the formation of the Grand Canyon. I feel your frustration with the woo crowd. Once I tried to explain to one of them why chlorine in tap water is a good thing, not part of a government conspiracy to kill her. I had to give up.

As an electrical engineer, I'm so glad you're suffering through this, rather than me. Having a ~2 hour livestream talking to a EU proponent was bad enough.

"What merit can that be?" - Enertainment, just pure entertainment. People like Jordan foster these ideas not because of the scientific value or potential, but for refurnishing the seemingly wonderless world with a new wow-factor.

Or like Douglas Adams put it: "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?
"

Or Tim Minchin "Isn't this enough?
Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex Wonderfully unfathomable, natural world? How does it so fail to hold our attention That we have to diminish it with the invention Of cheap, man-made myths and monsters?"

No, for Jordan an others of its kin it isn't enough. They need more. They need the promise of more and even greater wonders to make the world and their life worthwhile it seems.

Of course Jordan is one of those people who says "nucular" instead of "nuclear."

Of course the Grand Canyon wasn’t formed by lightning strikes, everyone knows that Paul Bunyan made it when he accidentally dragged his axe behind him.

Funny how I had all of the WDPLaSS running for today, only to have you finally update that list with a new video.

surely the powerplant at the centre of the galaxy that powers all the stars is solar powered, right? :P

When I say lightning bolts from Mars formed the Grand Canyon in about 5 minutes, I get laughed at. I get laughed at. I get laughed at.
