my brother works in geology drilling for geo-thermal wells. He has all sorts of stories about communities like this selling away the mineral rights beneath their land. Rarely does anyone get rich, outside of the company drilling.

Although he did tell me about working on a huge plot of land that had a single hermit in a cabin w/ no running water. Years went by and to everyone's surprise a gold vein was found. Come back to the hermit's house, there's a satellite dish and Ferrari in front :]

I don't care whether it is true story, impartial, or misrepresented. I would buy or go to the theater to watch because of Matt Damon is a great actor I admire.

Ok i am a PA land owner. I own 110 acres and am in a gas well unit producing royalties. My water does not catch on fire, no animals are dieing in this area, and the completed area of use by the well is less than 1 acre. The technology is sound if done correctly. There have been accidents on 1 out of every 500 wells. You just don't here about the ones that didn't hurt anything. This movie is more fiction than fact. Also, one of its sponsors was the UAE, "foreign oil." Go figure.
