Special Education has a language of its own!
Do you speak ESE?

As you participate in your child’s unique education process, you may feel that everyone has started speaking in a foreign language during meetings.

While it may seem like a foreign language, it is still a “language” of initials and acronyms used by school staff and professionals for more extended terminology that they CLEARLY understand and use daily (which we do NOT, and this adds to the confusion). Everyone is often assumed to be familiar with the meaning(s).

We have put together a quick reference list in the hopes that it may bring more understanding and clarity.

Tip: Print out a copy and keep it in your child’s IEP binder for quick reference when needed.
