I couldn't agree more with your top pick. I use VSCode for all of my tutorials and it makes programming so much quicker and more enjoyable. I was surprised how much quicker VSCode was when I swapped to it from Atom.

Feel free to share your own list in the comments. I did not add Vim because, this is my personal list and I do not have enough experience with it to talk about it :)

According to my experience :
1) VS Code
2) Bracket
3) Atom
4) Sublime Text.

That's it. I haven't used any other except Notepad++

VS code is by far the best choice for me. Used it for around a year and I live it, no going back now.

Sublime for quickly opening files and making changes. Visual Studio code for focussed long time coding. Visual Studio replaced Atom for me too. But both of the last 2 that I mentioned are comparatively slow when compared to sublime text 3 which is significantly noticeable if you have a slow computer like I do.

I code with Brackets and a snippet manager called *Brackets Snippets (by edc)* which allows you to write lets say ii and it would insert a whole image tag with cursor inside the alt tag. Press TAB and you are in the src tag. It is awesome.
I suggest stay away from Microsoft VS Code. In the agreements it states that updates are forced on you no matter what and that data collection is also a feature you can limit but can't turn it off. I don't want my code editor to collect data or update for unknown reasons.

For me with VS Code, it a was love at first sight many months ago. Since then it just continued to get more beautiful. I never looked at any other editor since VS Code came to my life. Which is remarkable, because until then, I'd change my editor every other month.

A lot of people seem to say Atom is slow but I've never had that issue, it's rapid! By far my favourite editor.

If only vscode was written in c++ and python just like sublime text, choosing the best editor would have been a no brainer task. Still amazed of how great vscode is despite being written in electron.

I was team Atom for a whole year but VS Code is absolutely awesome, specially for React and Angular. I second your top 5 Brad !

Now that Dreamweaver costs an arm and a leg, I've been using Brackets, but this info you just provided is helpful. Thank you!!!
