Birdhouse is a four woman play featuring at Edinburgh Fringe 2013. Four dishevelled and bedevilled women are living in the Coronet Cinema in events following Alfred Hitchock's "The Birds".

An intriguing combination of physical theatre, shadow puppetry and comedy, run through with the suspenseful tones of Alfred Hitchcock's classic. The four performers are alumni of Le Coq school of theatre in France, so clearly very talented. However their arrangement of scenes is difficult to decode, and while the references to The Birds may be clear to die-hard Hitchcock fans they will be lost on anyone who hasn't seen the film.

For a fringe experience run through with suspense and some intriguing set pieces, go. But if you're not a fan of The Birds, the finer notes may well be lost on you.
