Man, thinking about tritone subs as just a half step above the target rather than "calculating" the tritone interval above the dominant of the target chord is a lot more intuitive and easy to remember (while still being able to make sense of how it's derived). Thank you!

For those confused, he's referring to the tritone sub of the secondary dominant of the chord he's going to. For example, the secondary dominant of Amin is E7. The tritone sub of E7 is Bb7, which he plays here.
