I think it's really important what Fran pointed out: asking for 50% upfront should never embarrass you. If you are a good and committed artist you have to choose good paying clients that respect you. Everyone should just remember that the same agencies or clients asking you to be "flexible" about charging right away most probably would not accept that themselves. Be strong out there freelancers!!

Es cuático cómo nadie te enseña a hacer una especie de Términos y Condiciones, no solo en trabajos freelance, sino que en TODO tipo de trabajo y profesión. Recién en 5to año, a unas semanas de postular a mi práctica, la Universidad nos enseñó a hacer un Currículum y una Carta de presentanción, pero nadie me ha dicho ni me ha enseñado cuánto vale mi trabajo.
Yo tengo una especie de "carta" de presentación cada vez que envio mi currículum, donde explico quien soy y a qué me dedico, indicando el foco profesional que tengo, qué busco en mi trabajo y qué puedo ofrecer yo. Pero me llama mucho la atención que quienes están recién saliendo al mundo laboral sienten vergüenza de decir sus pretensiones de renta y sus objetivos en un lugar de trabajo, porque eso es sumamente importante.
Bakan que hayas hecho este video, Fran. Gracias :) no solo para mí que me ayuda a establecer también lo que yo puedo ofrecer y hacer, sino también para todos quienes están empezando a buscar trabajo, en lo que sea que busquen.

It took me so long to figure all of this out, would have been nice to have a video like this about 5 years ago. :) I call this document an official quote when I send it to clients, and it includes all of the same information.
