I remember my mom raised me to not only save my “virginity” for my husband but also my “first kiss”. I remember the day I finally kissed my boyfriend (who is now my husband). We had been seriously dating with the intent for marriage for 7 months at the time. I was 19 and my husband was 18. It was a simple sweet make out with the love of my life who I had fallen deeply in love with. Neither of us knew what we were doing but it was very innocent. I came home that night around midnight and my mom came into my bedroom, sat on my bed and looked at me blankly and asked “did you kiss him?” I could never lie to my mom… (especially not back then) and so I told her yes. She stood up, walked towards my bedroom door, turned around just before exiting and said “I’m very disappointed in you”. I cried like a baby… feeling like something had just died inside of me that I could never get back

the duct tape thing is just horrifying, i'm sorry it was said to you. Can we just stop comparing women to objects? You know what women have in common with duct tape, keyhole or other objects we are often compared to? LITERALLY NOTHING, those are objects we are people. Imagine if people started comparing men with objects and sexualizing them in order to say how invaluable they are. Like "A hammer is only there to bang on the nails, if it doesn't bang it, it's useless": it can work both ways, you know, because you can make analogies with literally anything to prove a point

Can we take a moment to think about how cruel the discussions around sex are in religion, particularly in the Abrahamic religions? I left the church (I'm EXMO) when I was 15, moved out of my parent's house as soon as I turned 18. I am now 36, years of therapy later, and I still deal with shame, embarrassment, and body issues stemming from religion trauma.

I was 16 and freaked the hell out about how disappointed my family would be. The guilt after made me feel like I was walking in a dream. I was so out of it. My bf at the time thought he had done something wrong lol He hadn't. So not only did I feel guilty about my family but also about him. It was a mess. I don't regret it though. It's just another memory from my younger years lol

i’ve written this before, but i’m going to write it again… some people choose to do it with someone they really care about. some people choose to do it with a random hook up. some people like the feelings or emotional parts, and some don’t. it doesn’t really matter which one you choose. just do it on your own terms not because someone pressured you. it’s also okay if you choose to not have sex again for awhile after for whatever reason. it’s also okay if you want to do it immediately again right after. you might not like it your first couple of times, and that’s okay. sometimes people just need to find the right person to realize that sex can be enjoyable. the person who makes you realize sex can be amazing can be a significant other, one night stand, friend with benefits, etc.

I am so HORRIFIED by that duct tape analogy are you kidding me!? had me in actual tears. It’s horrifying and heartbreaking that that is how so many people represent something that is supposed to be the ultimate love and justice and GRACE like bro have these people even read the Bible they claim to be speaking for. 😭

the using religion as an excuse to be awful makes me sick to my stomach and genuinely angry because not only is it HORRIBLE and chronically harmful to so many people (and from such a young age!!), it’s also a complete misrepresentation of what the thing they’re claiming to stand for is supposed to be!! AH. hurt people hurt people but my goodness don’t pretend God is telling you it’s good and fine because I promise you He isn’t.
