Matriarch Rose Kennedy once famously commented that her life could be described as the title of a Michelangelo biography called "The Agony and the Ecstasy". In that same interview in the 1970s, the interviewer asked, in polite terms, if she was at least happy to have had her son be president despite the assassination, and she said "No", that no success could overcome the horror of assassinations.

I think Rosemary should count as part of the curse. Her initial mental delays were caused by a botched birth that left her brain without oxygen for a time which caused her future behavioral problems. She then had the lobotomy so not to have those behavioral problems interfere with her brother's political careers. She may not have died from it but it sounds pretty cursed to me.

Here's a connection for you. Jackie Bouvier's sister was married to William A. V. Cecil Cecil was the younger son of Cornelia Stuyvesant Vanderbilt (1900–1976) and English-born aristocrat John Francis Amherst Cecil (1890-1954). He was the grandson of George Washington Vanderbilt II and Lord William Cecil, the great-grandson of William Henry Vanderbilt and William Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Exeter. His maternal great-great grandfather was railroad and steamship baron, Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt.

Jackie's distant cousin is Anderson Cooper of CNN, who's mother was Gloria Vanderbilt, daughter of millionaire equestrian Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt of the Vanderbilt family and socialite Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, and Reginald's patrilineal great-grandfather was business magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt,

Cornelius Vanderbilt's great-great-great-grandfather, Jan Aertson or Aertszoon ("Aert's son"), was a Dutch farmer from the village of De Bilt in Utrecht, Netherlands, who emigrated to New Amsterdam (later New York) as an indentured servant in 1650.[ The Dutch van der ("of the") was eventually added to Aertson's village name to create "van der Bilt" ("of the Bilt"). This was eventually condensed to Vanderbilt. Jan's son, Anthony Janszoon van Salee was one of Cornelius Vanderbilt's Jan and Anthony were privateers working out of Morocco and Anthony is thought to be the first Muslim in the colonies. Anthony's daughter Annica, married Thomas Southard. Their daughter Abigail was the great-great-grandmother of Cornelius Vanderbilt Thomas and Annica's son, Isaac, is a direct line ancestor of my mother, whose grandfather was Lawrence Southard of Iowa. That makes me a distant cousin to both Cooper and Jackie.

Yeah, the Kennedy's have a VERY illustrious family line.

If you watch "Grey Gardens", you'll see they call each other big/little Eee-die, not Ed-ie, same as most people shorten the common pronunciation of Edith. Also, it's "You-niss" for Eunice, not how you were saying it "You-neice".

You skip over Patricia Kennedy and Peter Lawford's oldest son Actor and Drug Addiction Activism Christopher Lawford. While he spent a lot of his youth addiction to drugs, he became clean and was an actor on the soap opera All My Children as Charlie Brent. Later o he became a writer and a world drug addiction advocate. He died in 2018 of a heart attack.

Would love to see analyses of other American political dynasties (Rockefeller already done) - I recall the Udalls of Arizona, Frelinghuysens of NJ, Pryors and Hutchinsons of Arkansas, Bennetts of Utah, Bayhs of Indiana, Byrds of Virginia, Burdicks of North Dakota, Thurmonds of South Carolina, etc, etc, etc

Well, as of today, the Kennedys have also produced a member of the presidential cabinet. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently President Donald Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services.

When my dad was a young man, he once caddied for Jackie O., while she was golfing at the country club where he worked. He said that she was dignified, had impeccable manners, was very kind, and that she tipped generously, unlike many of the wealthy people that golfed there. It was either in Massachusetts or Rhode Island (we're New Englanders), but I don't know which country club/golf course he worked at, at the time. For a while, he worked at the Pleasant Valley Country Club; it may have been there, but I don't know for sure..
