What If the Earth Was Spinning on Its Side?

In Earth's early days, it was slammed by protoplanet Theia. This left our world spinning on a tilted axis. But what if the Theia crash had flipped Earth 90 degrees? And why could living in Alaska help you live on a sideways Earth?

Video idea- “what if all insects went extinct?” Probably sucks but I think it’d be interesting if you haven’t done it already

if earth started to spin side ways before life existed, life would evolve to adapt and would be completely different from any life today.

4:59 they even made a run about it. During the summer solstice they do something called the "Midnight Sun Fun Run"

He said that all the ice would melt. but wouldn't the just melt form the pole experiencing summer and form on the poles experiencing winter? in this case, the pole with summer will cause the sea levels to rise, and the pole with winter would lower the sea levels, neutralizing each other, so it won'tbe that dramatic. Also the variation would decrease the nearer the equator gets, at the equator there would be a never-ending sunset .

If the Earth's tilt was 90°, the area between the poles would be like a form of twilight zone. While the poles would be getting scorched and frozen over and over, the twilight zone may have relatively normal temperatures. Areas like North Africa, Central America, & Southeast Asia would be in the twilight zone.

Props to the cameraman for capturing Earth's impact with that mini planet. How else would we know all of this.

If mars-sized planet were to collide with earth, there will be nothing but asteroid belt left behind. Earth originally had formed together with Saturn as it closely shares its axial tilt, before Sun captured Saturn with earth and seasons as we know began. Saturn transformed from brown dwarf into gas giant due to mass loss in cometary flaring. Physicist Wal Thornhill talks about it in Star Proto-Saturn video.

This is my favourite channel. I especially like it when you explain everything so nicely. I wish you a lot of success with the channel and happy life

It reminds us how we all have won the lottery. We are very lucky creatures. Then to be born in the 20th/early 21st century we’ve won the lottery a second time having all the best accommodations in life.

Cities would have to be shielded with some kind of dome structure.

What if the collision didn't happen in the first place

If the earth is tilted at 90 degrees, the equator would get 3 months of twilight follow by 3 months of regular day/night cycle, follow by another 3 months of twilight and then another 3 months of day/night cycle.

Fun episode as always. Will the world be any different if the tilt was 180°? Like north on south pole & vice versa..!
