Best Lobster Roll in Maine? Red's Eats in Wiscasset

This legendary red and white shack on the side of the road in Wiscasset, Maine serves some of the biggest and best lobster rolls anywhere in New England. Plus, you can find crispy fried clams, tasty hot dogs, and fresh baked whoopie pies.

I didn't realize that Red's was a turnaround story. I had assumed that the place had steady business for years before becoming legendary. I have driven past here many times on Route 1, but have not stopped.

There always seems to be a line.

I think I will make it a point to pull over and order one lobster roll during an off-peak time.

I was in Maine for 10 days 2 1/2 years ago. I had a lobster roll at every town, they were all great but Red’s is the only one that I can remember. Not sure what day of the week this was filmed. We were there on a Wednesday in August and it was pouring down rain. There were 50+ people in line. I just checked, Alexa told me I’m only 16 hours and 2 minutes away.
