I have sailed a cruising cat off and on for over 25 years. I've not sailed a boat in the last 4-5 years however, so thought YouTube might have some useful videos to knock the rust off my skills. There are a number, but these Inspire and Learn videos by TMG are absolutely the best! Easy to watch, very detailed and complete. I'm going out again in a week or so and these videos with Joe have eliminated any doubts I had about being rusty in my knowledge. These videos have confirmed I still know what I need to know about the basics. In addition, unlike old dogs, one can teach a old sailor some new tricks and I've picked up a couple from these videos. Thanks TMG !

An anemometer is a wind speed indicator not a wind direction indicator in the US. A Wind Vane measures wind direction . Love your instructional videos. I send all of my new crew members to this website before a charter.

hi I love the learning to a catamarans, and would love to see a man over board and recovery while at sail.

I miss an issue in the description. That is the tendency of the battens to catch on the lines of the lazy pack in any sort of waves that rock the boat or misalignment of the direction of the vessel being perfectly into the wind..
In my experience there are two possible solutions to this.
1. Send someone on the cabin roof to sort each line that has been caught, by cooperation with the crew member that is doing the raising.
2. Before raise of the sail, (or when the first batten is in danger of being caught gets close to the lines), release the whole system of the lazy pack and complete the sail deployment. When the sail is fully up, retighten the lines of the pack to their regular position.

I also check for a downhaul and make sure it is un-locked.

Also, would you close the clutch and remove the halyard from winch for use with the jib lines?

Hi I see that you don’t seem to use the topping lift when hoisting and then when hoisted releasing it?
