Sony Action Cam AS100V vs GoPro Hero 3+ Black

Obviously video quality is very close here (and some detail is lost in compression). Sometimes the GoPro looks better, and sometimes the Sony does. Read the full review, though, because there is A LOT more to consider than just video quality.

Look at 2:50. The details on his face and the leaves, clouds, fence and everything else, shows the gopro is sharper and more detailed and clear.

I also liked his website when he mentioned small things that makes a big difference like the water does not stick on the gopro lens when surfing or after diving.

I've watched a lot of video comparisons between Sony and GoPro. To me the color stands out better with the Sony.

I think there is no winner in this comparison. It all depends on what you are looking for. I had both cameras, now I have the 3+ black and I can say it is really amazing. underwater it has no rivals...sharp video, natural  colors and amazing performances. If you like colors saturation go for  Sony. It also has a great stabilizator which i think is the weak point of Gopro, and a great slow motion. I also prefer  pictures with Sony. Accessories and everything else Gopro is better.

Mark 1:49 the obvious choice right here is Sony for having good color with the bricks and the sky. 3:00 even though Sony has pretty good colors, the image stabilization sucks, 2:27 also the microphone test proves that Sony has better sound. 2:11 the Night video is kind of hard to discern from one and the other, but you can pretty much talking about cars with the colors, both are pretty good in my opinion.

1:07 the girl on the left (gopro) looks like a pale ghost and her feet are blurry because she's moving. but on the right (sony), her movements are crispy clear and she doesn't look as pale as she did in gopro. i don't know if that's her true skin color but i think sony is better in this one.

Are you sure you had the Image Stabiliser on, Because I have this camera and mine is so much smoother than that?

Definitely the Sony currently use both but the Sony has richer details and better sound, Just look at the sky around 2:35 how rich the  color and detail is.I also like using the LVR to control multiple cameras or if I prefer my smartphone. Anyway it's always a personal choice but Sony has been building cameras using Carl Zeiss lenses for decades.

I just bought the hdr-as100v and i love it.. i did my hw. however the gopro hero 3 black ed. is sharper and has 4k and some other pros. but the sony's stabilization and sound and wifi are awesome. When you get the sony you need a high end sdxd card to even use pro mode. Gopro is like the apple of action cams and you can do more with the editing and fine tuning but over all i am very happy with the sony. i dont think i'll take it back to exchange it for the go pro. good job sony for getting up there. i can only imagine whats to come next.

I was about to buy a GoPro but the guy at Best Buy talked me out of it and got me to buy the Sony HDR-AS100V and i am happy he did. I love it and it did not break my bank. It does just about all the GoPro Hero 4 does and its 200 dollars cheaper AND has a higher megapixel camera. There are a few negatives that i have noticed as water drops stick to the case and dont drip off so it is in front of the shot and there is a lot more noise but i love mine. Also Sony does not have as many camera mounts as gopro but they have all of the basics like a headband, chest mount, etc. I have since bought another and the live-view remote they sell which you can control and view the camera through. Great product that i would recommend to anyone who doesnt want to spend $500 on a GoPro.

Awesome !! I have to admit I'm not loving the design, but the fact that it has +saturation and it's 60fps, is a no brainer for a better quality video.
