MAJOR UPDATE:
Sony has responded behind the scenes and have given advice to people experiencing this issue, I will be putting out an update video tomorrow morning. The response is inadequate. Sony needs to acknowledge the issues they introduced to a large amount of PS4 owners.

MINOR UPDATE:
I updated my PS4 Pro to 9.00 and I have no issues. Hopefully Sony can fix whatever is going on with everyone’s PS4 that has had issues soon.

Unfortunately i’m pretty sure mine is bricked. I’ve done everything but completely factory restart my PS4 and it’s still useless. The furthest I can get (if I manage to get it out of safe mode) is opening my profile and then it freezes and shuts off.

Please keep us posted on this. I have not updated mine. Playing it safe until Sony does a patch or something.


On PS4 subreddit forums many are recommended you update via safe mode with no external hard drive plugged in. If anybody wants to try that there is a possible work around.

Edit: Decided to finally update. External storage device was not plugged in. I updated via safe mode. Hold power button down for a beep and continue holding for a second beep. Chose update via internet. Install process was quick. About 2 mins. Console rebooted I have a Slim which was purchased holiday season of 2016. Made sure to check the usual stuff before I turned it off. All good so far. Guess I worried for nothing. My thoughts are with everyone who was affected.

I didn't have any issues with update 9.00 on my PS4 Slim.

I have a slim ps4 and online games aren't working, i am trying to play nba2k22 but everytime i load in i get a error code? my wifi is perfectly fine and can join ps4 parties but online games just dont work. can someone help me or give me advice?

My PS4 is updated to 9.00 I'm having no problems playing games my PS4 does have an Xbox One hard drive though

Was just playing and my game froze so i restarted my ps4 and it told me to re download the update on usb so i tried to to it on the internet and it gave me an error so idk what to do im gonna try to do it by usb but i think it resets the storage and all so im gonna lose everything if im unable to use my ps4 anymore i hope there's a compensation cause ain't no way my parents buying me another one

Me and my friends got unlucky. We only have connection issues and we cant open the ps store.

Ps I have a lan cable I never really expect connection issues.

Literally for me it doesn't even pop up to dowload the update and as i know the ps4 base models have more issues with this update than on ps4 slim and pro but still even those models can be prone to the updates adverse effects.

The 9.00 update fixed the 8.52 for me.
