I’ve been told a milk frother is absolutely useless, but even though this isn’t microfoam, this seems much easier and less messy than the French press method. Nice video!

Use a little less milk and make very gentle up and down movements while you froth. As you bring the frother to the surface of the milk, you can control how foamy it'll get.

Updated.I have found it. The perfect method with a hand wisk. First make sure your wisk batteries are not running down. After warming the milk in a 500mL glass pyrex jug place your 200-250 mL of milk into your 600 mL metal pitcher. Tilt your pitcher at around 30 degrees angle, place the wisk onto the shallower side just below the surface around half to 1cm. Now wisk for 2-3 seconds, no more or less to introduce air into the milk then immediately move the wisk to the the opposite but bottom and deepest part of the angled pitcher and vortex the milk for 60 seconds. You should hear the wisk sound lower in pitch at the last 10-15 seconds. Now tap out the air from the metal pitcher. Gently pour the milk back into the glass pyrex jug, then back into the metal pitcher, keep rotating and tapping out any bubbles. The milk is now perfectly microfoamed. Important when generating the vortex fractionally move the wisk about a centimeters away from the wall towards the center of the base. If you don't the vortex will be poor, if you over move the vortex will start drawing in air and generating bubbles ruining the milk. Its an equilibrium of this for 60 seconds. Your milk will now have the consistency of wet paint. Without this consistency there's no latte art.

Thanks for sharing this. It's the only way I froth milk any more. I haven't messed with the steam wand for years. The "secret" is to test your microwave to determine how long it takes to bring the milk to temp w/o boiling it. Mine is 39 seconds. Added benefit is that the steam condensate does not dilute the milk. 😊

❤exactly what I’ve been looking for, I’ve been making it too foamy with my frother to do art, even though I was in the vortex for a good while, but now through this video I see that I need the right 120 temp for the milk, and vortex for at least 15-20 seconds..

I checked the price this morning and it was 15 $ but I bought it at 10$ few days ago. The price seems to vary a lot !

I finally did it!!!! It took a lot of patience and a little bit of practice😢 I used a drop of soap and water to practice and voilà!!!! I will be working through your other videos!!! I was also getting huge bubble up top. I think I got rid of them by going deeper at and angle and not going up and down after the initial bubble making!

I can't make a good vortex without noise, my dog barks all the time & kids outside make too much noise, I could try wearing headphones without noise I suppose

Hi there! So I got the same bodum frother you have here, but my milk ends up too foamy on top and runny at the bottom. Anything I should maybe adjust here?

I bought a rechargeable frother with three different heads in Mexico City and paid 17 USD…so much for things being cheaper in Mexico!
