Tennis World Tour 2 Review - The Final Verdict

I suppose die hard fans of the sport who really want a tennis game can have some fun here. The experience on the court is decent enough, and the wide roster of courts and players may excite those who are invested enough to appreciate it.

But there just isn't much here to hold your attention for long. And what is here is surface deep, feeling average at best and bland at worst. Tennis World Tour 2 is an improvement over its predecessor, but it still doesn't stand out in any way. If you're really set on a great game of virtual tennis, I'd suggest booting up an old copy of Top Spin instead. You'll have more fun in the end.

I don't understand why they couldn't expand on top spin 4. That game was amazing. It had some problems but overall it was very fun.

The Virtual Tennis games on the Dreamcast was the best tennis games I've played so far.

Tennis is a really popular sport worldwide which makes it baffling that there are so few Tennis games made. And Top Spin 4 is still the best tennis game a decade after its release.

I couldn't stand watching him try to receive the serves from the middle of the court instead of at the correct placement, the far diagonal end.

Easily my worst purchase for a long time. My biggest problem with this game is that the score changes way before the point is finished like the game has decided whose won before you even start

When you're a gamer and there's no decent games for your favorite sport...I guess I'll look for Top Spin 4.

I'm missing the tennis franchises of previous consoles. Top Spin, Virtua Tennis, and Smash Court Tennis series had differing strengths, but were all a blast. Particularly the Top Spin series. TS, TS3, and TS4 were fun. TS and TS3 had pretty accurate match play dynamic, court positioning actually mattered to a high degree. TS4 was slightly watered down but had the best multiplayer experience. Virtua Tennis had the most accurate authentic pro animations (federer's forehand looked like federer's forehand etc). SCT2 or 3 had a very detailed character skill progression.

Closest thing we have now is AO Tennis 2. Not the best, but still enjoyable.

Nacon is doing a disservice job with AO Tennis and Tennis World Tour. I miss the fun Virtua Tennis franchise, hope SEGA resurrect it.

As a fan of Tennis, it's a shame that 2K sports just want to make games to sell microtransactions. That's probably the main reason they stopped making Top Spin games.

It's a real shame that there is no high quality Tennis game, nothing like FIFA, NBA or NFL level. It's just weird, since it shouldn't be that hard to do, like those games

Definitely one of the most stupid games I've ever played. The fact alone that you have to respond before your competitor hits the ball makes this the most infuriating game mechanic ever created and makes you wonder who designs these games.

They got to get topspin controlling back. Still to this day, I recommend that controlling pad over these newer ones.
