Hello friends, thanks for tuning in! We have a little update video for you....

Of course, we're in the business of making caravan vlogs and what good is a caravan without a reliable tow car? We've been thinking of upgrading our tow car for a while now but over the last couple of weeks, we had to move our plans up. On a recent service we were told about something that may lead to some reliability issues for our current car.

Therefore we needed to do something now, especially considering we have two trips abroad with the caravan this year!

This video will take you through our process and of course reveal the choice we made!

We really hope you enjoy this video, please do leave us a comment, we love reading them and try to reply to as many as possible.

Thanks for watching

All the best
Mac & Sarah

I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun with your new van, especially when you have been able to make it camper friendly.

We used to live down in the Solent area. Watching your drive over to Southampton and doing your test drive brought back memories of how terrible driving around down there is.

We have now lived in the Brecon Beacons / Black Mountains area for 8 years. Seeing the traffic reminded me of what a great choice it was to move over here.

We’ve watched the first few Ireland videos you’ve posted and it looks as if you are having fun. We might follow in your footsteps over the next year or so.

Lovely choice guys, we have a 2014 T5 and I absolutely love towing our caravan with it. Ours is also currently unconverted and I must admit it’s a dream to load it up and tow the caravan empty. Enjoy your adventures 😊

Good choice :-) we have a 2019 T6 Caravelle (People carrier) but we've removed the 3 seat bench and fitted out the back as a day van / camper (I use it when working away). We tow our 7.3M Bailey caravan with it. I've had a few tow cars over the years and the T6 is the best tow car I've had. Some advice regarding the DPF, the van will do about 3 DPF re-gen's to every fuel tank. Allow that process to happen, you can tell when DPF burn is active as the rev counter will be just under 1K when idle (you will hear it too) try not to interupt the DPF burn by switching the engine off, I take my van for a short drive allow it to complete (revs will drop down to just one notch under 1K instead of at 1K). Annoyingly DPF burns sometimes start just as I'm pulling onto the driveway :-( but in 5 years of having it I've so far avoided the dreaded DPF blocked filter. Mixing short trips with longer trips also helps. Good luck with your new towing rig which I know you'll enjoy. Cheers.

I bought a new 6.1 in 2021, t30 150 bhp DSG. It’s been fantastic, I use it every day and also tow a Swift 560 with it. I’ve had a car life full of high end cars ….but oh I do love my Transporter. Absolutely top notch, would not be without it. Hope you enjoy it as much.

Congratulations guys on choosing your new tow car, seen quite a few of this setup and on campsite they left their caravan on site for two days before returning, so you can have best of both worlds, 👍👍.

Hi Mac and Sarah. Love the new VW, coolest vehicle on the roads. Best of luck in Ireland, can’t wait to see how you got on. We are off next week for a 10 week European tour, France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and back into France, very exited and a bit scared. We at least now have an awning for our basecamp 2. All the best, Shaun and Helen 🥂

This will be a game changer for you both. We have had a T6 and now a T6.1. You can park anywhere you want and the storage you now have is great. We tow our caravan with ours and although its only 110 bhp the torque of a van means you won't get from 0-60 an a rush but it will just keep pulling. Currently in the Peak District and it's had a real test up and down the hills and it was brill. Yours will pull like a train. The elevated driving position is great too. Little tip, if your wallet can take it use premium fuel. I noticed a markable difference in performance and it helps with keeping the dreaded DPF clean which is the downfall of every modern van. Also use Ad-blu from the pump rather than the plastic tubs. Tubs left outside and can crystallise I'm told and sometimes cause issues. A mechanic also advised me that every time I fill up with Ad-blu tip a bottle of DPF cleaner in the fuel tank (not the Ad-Blu!). Can't hurt. Happy travels!

Great choice of vehicle, I have driven VW Transporters for the past 20 years. One reflection though, you said it was 201 bhp (I guess you meant 204 bhp w/ double turbo) those engines really are troublesome. I hope you have done your homework, and have enough warrenty. I have been waiting for the next update from you both. A great start to my Sunday morning. Congratulations on the tow car decision and the purchase of your perfect vehicle! I too am considering a new vehicle, to tow but also accommodate what I hope will be new additions to my family - Golden Retriever/s. I am looking at a Hybrid Diesel Range Rover (10 years old but only 40, 000 miles) I would love to know what you and your viewership think of my choice. There is a lot of chat out there about reliability and running costs. Looking forward to hearing about your forthcoming travels. I was at Back of Beyond recently and was thinking of both of you with Dozer. There again next month for a couple of nights

Hi Guy love the new Van, i have a Van haven built transporter t6.1 204 dsg lwb highline kombi camper, in the rear of my van is have a 40 winks bed rear queen size, this allows you to be able to fold the bed up to extend the boot space but if needed also can be removed in minutes, not only that the rear seats can stay in while using the bed, you could also fit and under bed storage tray from the likes of Ovano. This makes the kombi even more versatile as a day Van stroke kombi camper .my van is heavily featured on the Van haven YouTube channel, its the revena blue swamper .
The 1st video was filmed shortly are we got the van but it shows you the set up I'm taking about . The later videos show the van with the white bronze and blue reflective graphics. Looking forward to seeing you next video I was over Ireland 🇮🇪 twice last year .its always great to get home
