I remember watching this game live. We were stunned that he both wanted to and was allowed to stay in. Thing is, it was the first inning of game one of a doubleheader, and he didn’t want Adley to have to catch both. If I remember correctly, his wife and kids were also there and he wanted to set a good example for them.

Wouldn’t it have been great if he hit a comebacker and hit the pitcher on his next at bat? I think pitchers should have to bat in place of the DH every time they hit a batter. That might decrease these incidents.
