Philadelphia’s Silhouettes started their R n’ B career later in life so they look older in this video than most typical vocal group members. After a gospel career in the late 40s and early-to-mid 50s, the group turned pop in the later-fifties and produced this #1 national smash: “Get a Job.” It was their first pop song and was released in the fall of 1957 on the Junior Label (then bought up by Ember Records) and became a million-seller. The original group (Bill Horton, Rick Lewis, Raymond Edwards, and Earl Beal) got back together in the 80s to record, and to hit the oldies circuit. Enjoy another well-known standard from the great Burlington Concert by Mark del Costello.
