Viewing People as Humans not Consumers

Many people consider consumer a term of art to describe ourselves and almost every aspect of our daily lives: from the products and services we design and purchase and use, to the news and information we -- surprise -- "consume."

But did you know that the original meaning of the word "consume" means TO DESTROY? Have you ever thought about what it means -- or how it feels -- when your job is to "buy, buy, buy" -- consume, consume, consume -- rather than actually contribute to society beyond spending money?

It's time to shift how we see one another, and talk about one another (and ourselves!) from consumers to HUMANS: individuals, change agents, citizens, members, incredible people who can do so much. And a world in flux is the perfect time to start!
