The Sea of Forgetfulness | The Book of Micah | Gary Hamrick

The book of Micah ends with a promise—that God is forgiving, merciful, compassionate, and a God who casts our sins “into the depths of the sea” to be forgotten and forgiven. So many people carry around guilt and shame from the past and desperately want to feel forgiven. There is a practice today among Jewish people called “Tashlich” where they stand along the bank of a river or along the coast of the ocean and read from Micah 7:18-19 while casting bread into the water to symbolize their sins being cast into the depths of the sea. As a symbolic gesture, casting bread into the water is fine; but there is a forgiveness that comes through Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all guilt and shame! My name is Micah I feel blessed I was given the name. I relate to the prophet Micah I see all the carved symbols that desecrate and corrupt god's love in our society. The everyday practices of man and hypocrites who masquerade as prophets and parade the the destruction of conscience. We live in a day of false idols and a house divided by politics and leaders who obscure the image of God. Not only politicians but the American Christianity has become a cult and persecuted sinners by creating laws outside of God's law
