Theres a lot of churches here that are more accepting. When I was in an LGBTQ+ concert band we had our concert in a church that was super supportive. There were the flags at the back of the church and the "this business is an ally" sticker everywhere. Definitely something Im not used to as someone who was a survivor of religious abuse but Im very happy to see it. Theres now a certification religious organizations have to pass and get to be an ally and many churches are actually going for it and unlearning and learning. Theres still a divide here but seeing these accepting churches brings hope that many LGBTQ+ people can go back to practicing without fear of hatred.

I outgrew my religious upbringing but the last thing I want to be is an atheist version of the hateful people I grew up with. I sometimes struggle to understand why someone could be LGBT and religious, because of my own personal experiences, but I dont want to live in a world where my community tells religious people that they arent welcome, because thats exactly what was done to us. I don't want to contribute to that cycle of hurt. I may not agree with you on everything, but I hope you never feel like you don't belong because of these disagreements. I have very transphobic Christian parents. They've used 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 as an explanation to why transitioning is wrong. Does anyone have any other verses/interpretations of the Bible that suggest otherwise? Not trying to be rude, just genuinely asking as a confused and scared closeted trans man.
