This is the twelfth in a new series of videos, providing advice, suggestions, and information for students and lifelong learners intending to engage in self-directed study of Immanuel Kant I discuss why Kant would be useful, important, and worthwhile to study. I also suggest which of his books would be best to start with, and what other works you might move on to after those.. I also suggest what problems or concerns you don't need to be overly concerned with when beginning study of Kant (though you might find it useful to consider them later).

Perfect timing for me as I'm in a discussion group that's slowly going through Kant's 2nd Critique. I've been appreciating him more as I've started to pick up learning German again around half a year ago. Hence, I'm very much looking forward to this video for further advice in exploring Kant's ethics outside his Groundwork (e.g., the Doctrine of Virtue, Religion within the Limits of Bare Reason).

Thank You for this video (and the multitude of other Kant videos you've done, as I can see in the playlist in your channel). I graduated last year with a degree in political science, and among the many philosophers very briefly covered in our classes, Kant stood out as the most interesting one. I finally managed to pick up a book of his yesterday, and can very much see what you mean about the slow reading - it took me an hour to get through four and a half pages of Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, and I'm used to academic reading! Looking through all the translator's notes, flipping to sections where this or that concept is explained (I'm still not 100% sure I understood what Kant means by Idea with a capital i), and reading, re-reading and re-re-reading the half-page long sentences takes time, for sure.

As Philosophy life learner, i've always enjoyed Kant's work since i first encounter him to study him and learn about his thought and his way of thinking has been some of the most impactful thing in my life. Maybe one of difficulty i found when i studying Kant is perhaps when i misunderstands him in some part while i reading his main works and that's why i sometimes use introductory or companion books by some professors and i find them usefull. But as a Philosophy way of life, do you think is it okay to interpreted Kant as a Philosophers in way of life or do you think Kant touches the part of Philosophy as a way of life?
