上原ひろみ 『Spectrum』
初回限定盤SHM-CD 2枚組 UCCO-8031/2
通常盤SHM-CD UCCO-1211
高音質SA-CD~SHM仕様 UCGO-9054

Spectrum celebrates the maturity and depth that have enriched Hiromi’s composing and playing over the course of her 30s, years in which she’s crisscrossed the globe thrilling audiences and embarked on collaborations with some of jazz’s most inventive artists, including Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Michel Camilo, Anthony Jackson, Simon Phillips, Steve Smith, Akiko Yano and Edmar Castañeda.

"My first piano teacher always taught me to see colors through music. When she wanted me to play something expressive or fiery, she colored the score paper with red pencil; when she wanted me to play something melancholic or sad, she would color my score with blue pencil. I thought it was fascinating because the piano itself is mostly black and white – the keys, the finish – but it can create so many colors." - Hiromi

Never thought I'd see her perform this at the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony. She is always amazing!

There are experts. There are masters. And then the transcendent. She transcends. It's as if the piano is not enough. It's beneath her. She owns it. Once in a lifetime talent. Perhaps like Mozart time will remember her as one of the greats.

I have been performing what I thought was great music for the past 20 years but when I saw this, I just wanted to end it all.
I don't care who you put up, Tatum, Peterson, Cziffra, Tyner, Corea (who she plays with), (yeah...she's in that league), her technique and chops are unsurpassed. Would never mean to demean those that come before her but she plays effortlessly, emotionally and joyfully and mark my words, she will be among the most elite keyboard players that have ever lived. Too much???? I don't think so.

Suffice it to say that jazz is changing with her, it's a music we've never heard, yes she's changing jazz, making it more diverse and deeper

Hiromi wins the Nobel Prize for Physics - for presenting the spectrum of the whole universe using binary black and white keys! :)

“Spectrum”

暖かい室内光(白色光)から
Prismを通して分光される移ろい

ColorやBrightnessの”状態”ではなく、
光の直進性や複屈折する”動き”を、
単数形のspectrumで表してるのかも。

It's ridiculous how she can keep that left hand riff going on while doing swing at the other. Wild.

Here Hiromi blends her spectacular musicianship with a visual feast akin to crème brûlée for the eyes. I would travel half way round the earth to see her play live.❤

I think Hiromi is the best pianist I have ever seen and she's the best on the planet. I'd love to see her live some day.

She is so good she makes me mad, and so ludicrously good she makes me happy. Am I even a piano player? She makes me doubt everything.

I've discovered Hiromi by chance while I was perusing a music shop here in town. Her album was sitting prettily on a stand and it looked so colorful and fun I bought it on a whim. I'm a total stranger to Jazz music, I have close to no knowledge of it; I've never even really listened to it.
When I got home and listened to the CD I couldn't believe how grateful I was for having purchased it! Hiromi's music is fun and engaging and I fell in love with it instantly! Her personality shines through, I can't get enough of her!

Seen her live yesterday in Zurich. A living legend. All the great piano players of all times will dedicate the throne in the hall of fame to her.
