Whilst I'm not intransigent to words gaining new meanings, if Trump meant surveilled, he should have just said so - the meaning is already broad enough to encompass all the activities he claimed, but vague enough to not point to any one specific activity - it would have been much easier than redefining "wire tapped" and air quoting his explanations. It also takes less characters, meaning more room for emojis.

But even if everyone humors him and accepts that explanation, how is he going to walk back : "How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!"
