This is the perfect Song for Shadow in Shadow Generations. Him fighting off once more the Past he once left behind, finally understanding it in its entirety, and making the choice to not abandon it, but learn from it, and become his own self, not the Shadow he once was, but not the Shadow others want him to be.

An alternate take on Shadow the Hedgehog’s ending. I interpret like we are gonna get a Shadow that both remembers his past entirely but decides to be a new Shadow. Kinds like how Geralt is in the Witcher games, losing his memory, regaining them and becoming a mixture of his Past and Present self.

I like how the first verse is diredted at literally everyone who tried too tell shadow who he was

- shadow referring to black doom ans how he tried to manipulate shadow.
- sonic friends not understanding shadows pain and all that he went through just thinking he's supposed to be on their side or a "hero"
- Maria on how she thought shadow was supposed to be hope for the humans on earth

- referring too eggman on how he qlways put shadow down and tried to make him think he was an android of his
- this also count towards the goverment on how they saw shadow as nothing but a weapon. And how the commander constantly tries to have the government take down shadow or do it himself.

If they had made a remix of this song for the final boss os Shadow Generations it would have been the perfect theme for it, but getting a remix of All Hail Shadow is still dope

For those who are wanting to find the meaning of the song:

Who I Am is a song about what Shadow ‘05 has been delving into; the process towards acceptance.

“Who I Am” tells us that Shadow feels like he’s being misunderstood and is treated like a beaten dog (which leans into what Maria’s voice actress said that Shadow is like Maria’s guard dog)

He wants to be cared for, but he’s misunderstood because to others, he’s nothing but a living weapon, so Shadow decided to take his anger out on everyone who wronged him. But he has also suffered immense trauma and feels isolated from the world.

He wants to break free from this sort of..”edgy” persona, but he can’t because of the amount of trauma he suffered.

TLDR: Who I Am describes his character perfectly. Shadow was used and was treated as a weapon by the government despite being taken cared for by Gerald and Maria. After all of the abuse and trauma he has endured, he decided to finally take matters into his own hands personally. And the reason why he acts the way he does is because he wants to maintain his sense of self by isolating himself from everyone. He doesn’t owe anyone anything. He only does things for himself and for Maria only. Nobody can change who he is because they haven’t suffered through what he has suffered through.

Edit: Or if this is pretty much a song against someone like Black Doom, you could argue that this song was expressing the fact that Black Doom has been degrading him and molding him into this low empathetic character he is currently today
