This video will teach you tricks & tips for keeping your polka dot houseplant healthy & happy as an indoor plant! The care needs for this plant are simple. At the end of the day, we all live in different home environments so just keep a good watch on your plant for warnings signs such as drooping, discoloration, stunted growth, & things of the sort. If you begin to notice signs like these, make a change to your care routine!

Today I thought I would share some of what I have learned since purchasing a polka dot plant several months ago. I do have several varieties of this plant & they have all been doing very well for me. What I researched for plant care needs on the internet didn't necessarily work for me, so here is what I have found works for my plants in my home environment! Thanks for watching!

I agree with letting the leaves wilt a bit before watering. That was the game changing tip that my stepmom gave me and it stopped me from killing all my plants. Her way of saying it was, "You just let it tell you when it's thirsty." I've never killed a plant since.

Yes! She's such a drama queen of a plant. I was late watering it by like a day and it looked all shriveled and pathetic. Like 15 minutes later it was all perky and happy again

Just got one, the wilting in seconds is ridiculously true, I thought I was going crazy when I seen a perfectly fine leaf start wilting.

Notes:
- prefer bright indirect light
- the more light, the more water it requires
- if plant gets too much light leaves may fade
- too little light may lead to leafy plants
- trimming promotes bushier growth; prune older leaves twice a year
- when wilted, watering it should perk it up
- let soul dry out completely between waterings
- plant is not heavy feeder but needs SOME sustenance:m; extremely dilute fertilizer and mix with water to feed
- if you feed too much too quickly, leaves will get crunchy on tips
- if you fertilize too much, clip off crunchy leaves
- propagate super easily; watch end of video for propagation tips

Your video was so helpful because you covered propagation, cutting, fertilizing, growing - everything in one video. Other videos tend to cover only one or two aspects and I can never seem to find a video that has the content I'm looking for. Yours is perfect. Thanks so much!

I love watching how fast my polka dot plant recovers after fainting. They are certainly dramatic!

This video came at the perfect time, I just trimmed my polka dot plant, I put the stem cuttings in water but had no idea if anything would happen, glad to see I may get some roots after all!

I have a big one & a small one. The small one got repotted & move closer to the light & his ass died overnight. Drama queen. 😂

Thank you, Harli! Mine do get leggy so I’m thinking they need a bit more light. I haven’t propagated yet so I just gave them a good trim and I’ll see what happens with the clippings. 🎉

My husband bought me one from the supermarket back in May. It is half red and green with the polka dots. It's gorgeous!!!! It was on clearance. It got so big in its pot so I planted it outside. I live in an apartment on the first floor. (Also i live in Bethlehem PA and we have had freezing night's already and this plant is still thriving perfectly). It is enormous!!! I had no idea they get that big. Now seeing this video I'm going to cut some clippings and keep growing it. Thank you for making this video on them. It's so hard to find correct info on plants lately.

Thanks! For some reason, this is one plant that I've never been able to keep alive. I did buy a baby one yesterday and I'm hoping that it all works out. I also just found out that you can put them in hanging baskets in shaded areas, so I'm really hoping mine gets a little leggy, and I can propagate it just like you showed. This was very helpful!

After seeing how dramatically my polka dot plant will faint she earned the name Princess Dot! She’s gotten so tall, 14 inches at her tallest. I’m glad to know now I can prop her and share her drama and beauty with all my plant friends 💕🌿

I find it often in the "sick" plant section in Lowe's for half off

I bought one do these for my kindergarten son to care for. It’s going well-now. The leaves started wilting. My mom suggested we use ice on it. We took her advice and it started growing in a day it seems. He loves it! It’s his daily chore-to observe the plant and we decide what we need to do with it! I came here to learn how to care for it and to trim it.
This video is so comprehensive. Thank you! I no longer have a black thumb. I’m ready to by more plants. 🌱
Thanks, Carli!

I got a little polka dot plant and it was beautiful. I kept my eye on it each day checking the moisture and figured it’s fine. This morning I wake up and it’s completely wilted !! I literally screamed and turned to this video. I watered it and put it back in its place. Praying it’ll be fine because it’s such a pretty plant ! :(

This plant was a gift to me from my mom. I usually don’t buy plants anymore because they’re a huge commitment (to me cause caring for them requires tedious care and attention) and I have a good amount as is. So far plant has been incredibly hard to understand and she stresses me out. Regardless, I still love her and continue trial and error

Hey Harli! My spotted plant keeps dying at the lower leaves, they keep turning yellow and falling off. At first I thought it was a potting issue (because it was growing out of it's pot) so I upgraded it, but the lower leaves are still dying. The rest of the plant is going fine, and growing fairly quickly. Thanks for your time! :-)
