We've got some elephant-astic news!
The results from our latest round of pregnancy testing are in... and we are thrilled to announce that BOTH Noorjahan and Esha are expecting calves later this year!
This historic moment marks the first-ever elephant pregnancies here at the zoo and signifies a huge milestone in the development of our multi-generational herd, which contributes towards the conservation goals of the European Ex Situ Programme (EEP) as it serves as a crucial lifeline for ensuring the survival of these endangered species.
Of course, like in any pregnancy, there are inherent risks. However, we remain cautiously optimistic as we eagerly await the arrival of these two new additions to our herd later this year.
