The summons in this game was by far the best system in the series, they should have kept it

I'm glad Auron remained a separate character from Jecht. Older characters who serve as surrogates and mentors are interesting archetypes I personally like seeing in media, especially JRPGs. Badass characters are almost always depicted as gruff or independent, but fatherly or motherly figures with pasts outside of the plot come across as stronger and far more relatable to me. Auron's arc in particular resonates with me; his sudden outburst when he confronts Yunalesca for the second time hits hard. The fact that Auron honors his word to Braska and Jecht out of brotherhood and self-accountability rather than blood relation makes Auron's character who he is, in addition to his excellent voice actor and writing.
Aside from Matt McKenzie, Hedy Burress and JAT make this game for me. Wouldn't be the same without Hedy's giggle or Tidus's ponderous monologues.

I loved the battle system in this game. It was perfect. Too bad everyone is slobbering over action RPGs and hate turn base.

Offhand observation here, but man... that shot at the end of the video of Tidus in the water looking up with the grin on his face is still really striking! No wonder they used it as the game cover (at least in the U.S.). All the color blue and the ruins in the background is just a really, really beautiful shot. I haven't seen it in a long time, and it's really cool.

I find it funny that they wanted to cast nobodies, but JAT, Tara Strong, and John DiMaggio became some of the biggest voice actors of the century.

JAT is Tidus and even in one of his YouTube video he thanks Jack for casting him in that role. I think this was his breakout role and now he well know VA. I love his Obi Wan but James Arnold Taylor is alway Tidus to me and he always happy to come back to voice him.

If you pay attention, most victory poses, especially by blade weilding characters, in any jrpg, they're less posing and more shaking the blood off their blades.

Even as exagerated as they are in some cases, you can still see it.

Cloud's sword spin is a good example
