Gavin is a patient at OneWelbeck Heart Health, he has been experiencing blood pressure problems for over 18 months. He has come to OneWelbeck Heart Health to undergo a cardiac CT scan to investigate his heart in more detail. Dr Iqbal Malik meets Gavin, expressing symptoms of feeling slightly run down for a few months due to his heart not beating in a coordinated fashion. The upper chamber of his heart wasn’t beating in an efficient manner which could indicate cardiac conditions such as Atrial Fibrillation or Atrial Flutter.

A CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA) is a non-invasive test to look at your coronary arteries. Using powerful X-Ray, it is used to diagnose a variety of heart conditions. Consultant Radiologist Prof. Simon Padley explains, "the beauty of using modern CT technology is that they are so fast and the resolution is so high, the combination allows radiologists to freeze the motion of small moving structures to analyse. The detector array is wider than a person's heart meaning to gather all the information, the radiologist will only need to rotate the scanner once. This advanced technology means the entire test can be completed in literally, a heart beat".

After the CT scan, Gavin meets Dr Iqbal Malik for the follow up consultation and explains the findings and treatment to help stabilise the patient’s heart.
