The first thing you should do is give longitude and latitude.
As a harpoonist for tuna I can testify the coast guard don't give a shit if your on fish or not your getting boarded period. (Yes ive tried to out run...thats when they sent out the raft with 4 400 hp engines on it. My twin 427 aint outrunning that lol)
Things they search for are life jackets survival suits (for as many people are on board that's an important one) but most importantly they look for an inflatable raft that opens up upon contact with water. Oh yeah there's also a flare you send out that's electronic you set that off and you WILL BE found as long as that that flare is with you.
Also best to call a buddy that's near by...if any...they will reach you before the coast guard pending where you are.

You know this reminds me of a story my dad told me he used to dive for clams in lakes and Rivers but then as he said and I quote I went down with 200 pounds of iron and weights on me about 800 foot or down in the deepest part of the river so estimated probably a bit less deep or more deep I was collecting a good Hall of clams and had another 50 lb of clams on me rested on a massive 90 ft diameter tree as he thought it was a tree until it opens its eyes and it was about the size of a dinner plate and it was a good 20 ft long my dad dropped all of the weight on his body weights and clam wise extremely fast according to him sold his diving equipment the same day and you couldn't pay him to go back in that river
