Nice review! I almost dismissed both of these cameras in the side-by-side comparison because of all of the jittery blocky digital noise, especially on the grass in the distance, but after switching to 4K that noise disappeared for the most part, so I guess youtube just butchered the compression on the 1080HD version.

In really fast movement there is some noise on the walnut, but other than that I think it's pretty obvious that the walnut video quality is 1-2 generations ahead of the runcam. Hopefully they can reduce the noise with future FW updates.

Also I don't think GoPro has announced the Session 6. It's just a rumor at this point.

How good is the Walnut in terms of gyro data? The thumb has a problem with duplicate frame throwing off the sync. They've improved that in a fw update but still the gyro data isn't great, requiring lots of sync points. If the Walnut is better in that regard I think that would be a huge selling point.

Very useful and entertaining video 👊I do agree that the Thumb Pro has more potential in terms of colour correction + grading with that flat colour profile but I also think that the final footage from the Walnut looks pretty good, which shows that you can still get good results from it. Honestly, looking at the tree specifically the walnut looks better. Both great budget cameras for bashing around though, so glad we now have so many camera options out there.

I have the Run Cam thumb pro and it’s been driving me insane. gyro data has been really out of whack and over zooming during rolls and flips and it take so much time to fix it all to the point that I just end up giving up on wasting hours on it. Really considering the walnut even with no flat color profile. I think it looks pretty good out of the box and will cut down on the amount of time I’d have to spend on editing the video itself.

Very good comparison video, short and precise, similar settings and video with and without color grading, perfect!
I'm so hyped about these cameras, the thumb pro is just such a good budget camera. The walnut seems good too, however I think the sensor is better on the walnut, it's just sharper overall, more detail. If it gets flat color profile it's gonna be a hard to decide but for now for me the Thumb Pro is the better choice.
Just one thing missing, the right quad :D Just starting out with a modified Mobula7, although if I really wanted to I think it could carry the Thumb Pro too.

I am in the search for a budget fpv drone action camera. Still wondering which one to choose. I really like the Thumb Pro, but it doesn't have Wifi and It has to be connected to the ESC. The difference in the price is around 90 euros. And for that difference I will have wifi, waterproof and internal battery. So This is my dilemma at the moment.

2:21 the walnut shows less details because you use an nd16 vs nd8 on the thumb. You should compare apples to apples ;)
Walnut has the most wiederangeknüpfte if you use 2.7k60 if I remember right. 4K doesn't look good enough, so I stick with 2.7k.
For many flights on my planes I was more than ok with peanuts 1440p...
