I feel that breaking down the text into themes rather than emotion would do better to honor the source material's intentions, as emotions are subjective and do not always convey the message of the original work. Obviously, if the intention of the original text is to replicate itself through reactionary mutations, using emotions as an outline would be a great way to convey such.
