Comparing Bayesian Optimization to Genetic Algorithms with SigOpt

Associate Professor in the Laboratory for Advanced Materials (LAMP) at the University of Pittsburgh Paul Leu recently collaborated with SigOpt to optimize the design of glass structures. In this short video, he walks through his test comparing two popular optimization techniques using SigOpt's intelligent experimentation platform to empirically determine the best-performing algorithm.

His results show that SigOpt's Bayesian Optimization performs better than Genetic Algorithms for this experiment.
