Thanks for the easy explanation. I saw someone using this the other day and asked him what indicator it was. I'm a very novice trader in the crypto space and have basically tried to keep my indicators really simple and rely on my research instead. Excellent excellent video . I have been trying to use this indicator and this was extremely useful. Can you please explain how to use it after a big gap opening?

I have used the SMI for a long time, like it a lot. Use it mainly because you can plot it as a histogram because it scales from negative to positive values, unlike stochastics, which scales from 0-100. Otherwise they are virtually identical. Whether the SMI reaches -40 or +40, or more, and how often this happens, depends a lot on the lookback period used, so the comments about this in the video don't tell the whole story. The SMI can also be used to highlight trends by using a lookback period that matches the MA you're watching, e.g. if you're watching a 50 bar MA then set the lookback on the SMI to 50 (half that value works well too), and set this to a histogram look. Now it will be above 0 almost simultaneous with crossing the matching MA. For entries, overlay a faster SMI, say 10-20 bars, and do like the video says. I use this combo on multiple time frames and the reliability is awesome. Also, try the SMI, or anything else for that matter, on volume (or tick) charts and the results are smoother than on time based charts.

Your EMA and SMA are giving you great indications. If your EMA goes below your SMA you’re in a down trend.

Interesting you chose 8 EMA and 20 SMA. I use 12 and 20 myself but I will try yours too

Just a question: Do i use the normal Candles or Heikin Ashi. The Heikin Ashi seem to consolidate the moves and show in the chart.
