It's about the story of Betty and James. James cheated Betty with the August girl. August song is the POV/perspective of the other girl because she was just a summer thing to James. There's a lyrics on August song : "but u were never mine".
After listening to August song, then listen to Betty song. Betty song is the Perspective/POV of James. He turned back to Betty and there's a lyrics there:

Is a lyric tons of people can really relate to. The lyric hit's me a lot, because growing up my family always doubted me, and never believed I could truly have a valid opinion because I was just a little girl..they thought that my age reflected how much knowledge I truly knew about a certain subject. In my opinion, age doesn't reflect what you do know, and what you don't know. I have a beautiful daughter now, and her opinions will always be valid to me, and I will never assume that she may know little to nothing on a certain subject just because of her age. Will never treat her the way my family treated me. She is my whole world and I want her to live a happy life, where she's accepted, supported, and treated properly.
